Day 1 - Traveling to Costa Rica

Airport Adventures 

    Despite the hectic beginning to our travel day in the Sioux Falls airport consisting of 5 girls having to sprint from bag drop-off to gate check-in, we successfully all made it to Costa Rica late last night. We flew from Sioux Falls to Dallas and ate some good food before our final flight. We arrived to an extremely warm temperature difference compared to the frigid negative degrees we left behind.  

    Most girls called it a night around 2 a.m. in our hotel beds, but that did not stop us from a productive and activity-filled day. Our tour guide, Sebastian, received bonus points for pre-ordering mini Subway sandwiches as a late night snack.

Day 8 - Jaco Fun!

 Jaco     We started our day with surfing lessons on Jaco Beach. It was only a 3-minute walk from where we stayed. Everyone had a blast!           In the afternoon, a group of us also decided to go horseback riding. Others chose to stay and enjoy pool or beach time. The horse ride was about an hour long and we were able to explore some graffiti, a haunted hotel, and a run with the horse on the beach.      At the end of the day, we enjoyed a nice meal on the beach. We took some pictures at sunset and embraced quality time together as a team. It was the best way to end a beautiful day on the beach!

Day 2 - Go, Go, Go!

 Go, Go, Go!     Started the day off right with a pit-stop at a local coffee shop to see what all the hype is about Costa Rican coffee. We can conclude their coffee lives up to it for sure!      Next, we volunteered at this organization where we were able to learn about the history behind how it originated and is now impacting families around Central America. We toured their facility, played multiple outdoor games with the kids, and ended with a hearty meal at a local restaurant.       We made a quick pit-stop at a local supermarket to gather up some snacks and sweet treats... AND quickly discovered that glass-bottled Coke were thrown into plastic bags to drink.      $2.61 for ALL of these snacks. YES please! The Countdown to Costa Rica Begins

  The Countdown to Costa Rica Begins   As we eagerly await our 9-day trip to Costa Rica, we continue to prepare over the next week before leaving on January 20. Each morning, we attend a class called "Pura Vida" in which we learn all about the country of Costa Rica. In addition, we have ramped up our physical training in the gym as we prepare to play against four local teams. We look forward to exploring Costa Rica's top three cities including La Fortuna, San José, and Jacó. In these cities, we have the opportunity to zip line, take surfing lessons, navigate local supermarkets, plant trees, and organize volleyball clinics. We are excited to immerse ourselves in the culture of the pure life paradise, create memories for life, and strengthen relationships with teammates. Stay tuned as we log every part of our journey!
